L’azienda coreana ha annunciato che sponsorizzerà gli sviluppi futuri del window-manager per utilizzarlo su molti suoi prodotti.

Buone notizie per gli sviluppi futuri di Enlightenment. Per chi non lo conoscesse ancora, riprendendo la definizione data da Wikipedia, si tratta di un window manager che può essere utilizzato da solo oppure assieme ad un ambiente desktop come GNOME o KDE. �? caratterizzato da un ottimo supporto per i temi e la grafica avanzata senza dover sacrificare velocità e leggerezza. Come tale, Enlightenment può essere preso in considerazione come sostituto di un desktop environment completo su computer magari non molto potenti. Nonostante le sue ottime caratteristiche, però, non ha mai raggiunto il successo (in termini di copertura mediatica) di altri progetti legati al mondo desktop su Linux. Ma presto questo sogno potrebbe presto trasformarsi in realtà grazie all’aiuto di un colosso come Samsung. “What does this mean for you as users and developers? It means that you are likely to see top-quality electronic devices running the same things you use on your desktop. This means as a developer the same libraries and API’s will be there, ready to use, out of the box. You can even start your development now in anticipation. Use Elementary, Evas, Edje, Ecore, Eet, Eina, and so on and design for a small screen with a “finger” and minimal keyboard (by small screen i mean in the range of 240×320, 320×480 and so on up to 480×800 for portrait, and similar for landscape (320×240, 480×320, 800×480).”
