Pensato per situazioni d’emergenza come terremoti e altre calamità naturali, il dispositivo consente di portare sempre con se, in una comoda valigetta, un hotspot/router 3G e WiFi 802.11 a/b/g. Il tutto basato su una versione embedded di Linux.

Si chiama Cell-Pak ed è basato sul router LAN-Cell2 dell’azienda Proxicast. Così come altri prodotti WiFi/3G, il Cell-Pak è in grado di utilizzare automaticamente la tecnologia di rete che offre la connettività più affidabile quando altre infrastrutture di comunicazione non sono disponibili, danneggiate o sovraccariche. Capirete dunque quanto sia importante in situazioni di panico generale dovute a disastri naturali. Il router può essere collegato ad una linea DSL, ad un modem via cavo o ad altre reti Ethernet così come a linee POTS o satellitari. Inoltre, inserendo l’apposita scheda PCMCIA nella parte laterale del dispositivo è possibile anche collegarsi a reti cellulari 3G. Insomma, non mancherà mai la possibilità di collegarsi alla grande Rete. Il tutto coadiuvato da un sistema operativo embedded Linux.
