Novell ha appena fatto sapere che la sua distribuzione Linux openSUSE parteciperà con 10 progetti al Google Summer of Code 2008, la manifestazione annuale per sviluppatori finanziata da BigG.

L’obiettivo di Google è quello di avvicinare quanti più giovani sviluppatori possibili alle tematiche e al software open source. “Sono molto contento della decisione presa da Google di finanziare ben 10 nostri progetti al GSoC 2008”, ha dichiarato Joe ‘Zonker’ Brockmeier, community manager di openSUSE.

“E’ un’ottima opportunità anche per noi in quanto ci consentirà di sviluppare nuovi strumenti e nuove tecnologie per la nostra distribuzione. Partecipando alla manifestazione Google, non solo riceveremo codice di qualità da studenti talentuosi ma lavoreremo anche a stretto contatto con la prossima generazione di contributor”, ha continuato.
