Rilasciato il primo aggiornamento - anche per GNU/Linux - per le schede Radeon, con una sorpresa: pieno supporto alle estensioni OpenGL 3.0 e supporto al MultiView.

ATI ha appena rilasciato l’aggiornamento Catalyst 9.1 che include pieno supporto alle estensioni OpenGL 3.0, una funzionalità introdotta lo scorso mes eper la prima volta da Nvidia. Il supporto ad OpenGL 3.0 può essere abilitato sia su Windows XP, Vista, Linux e Mac OS. L’azienda ha inoltre dichiarato che i nuovi driver introducono il supporto per Ubuntu 8.10, abilitando Hybrid CrossFireX.

Degno di nota è anche il supporto al MultiView, che può essere abilitando utilizzando configurazioni GPU singole o multiple.

This release of ATI Catalystâ„¢ introduces Hybrid CrossFireX support. Hybrid CrossFireX delivers a significant 3D performance boost for systems featuring an AMD 780G/780D integrated graphics motherboard and an ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series or ATI Radeon HD 2400 Series graphics accelerator.

Support for new Linux operating systems

This release of ATI Catalystâ„¢ Linux introduces support for the following new operating systems:

Supported on any combination of the ATI Radeonâ„¢ HD 4000, ATI Radeonâ„¢ 3000 Series and ATI Radeonâ„¢ 2000 Series of graphics cards.
